About
Work in Planning is an independent resource created and run by the team at Plan In. Plan In is a research and advisory service providing specialist advice and analysis on plan making and planning guidance.
We know that planning can seem opaque, particularly when you are just starting out on your first planning project or working in an area of planning that is new to you. It can be hard to know where to look for answers despite there being lots of formal sources of guidance out there as well as a whole plethora of other great tools, blogs and ideas generously shared by some of the leading thinkers in the planning and development sector. Work in Planning helps build environment professionals navigate this complexity, signposting and providing clear and relevant content.
The other reason we created Work in Planning is to showcase the enormous and exciting range of opportunities to work in planning. Planning has a role in tackling some of the biggest societal and economic challenges we face today. There is a need to dramatically expand the pool of talented people working in planning to respond effectively to these challenges. We are really passionate about helping to connect people from a wide range of personal and professional backgrounds to the right job in planning for them.
We are particularly grateful for the advice of leaders in the planning sector, who share their insights and ideas with us. They don’t direct the content of this website, nor do they necessarily endorse it, but they continue to act as a friendly sounding board for us as we develop this resource ahead of our full launch this spring.
We would welcome your ideas and contributions too. Get in touch for more information and to explore how you can contribute to Work in Planning.
